ELDERCARE Newly Remodeled and Enhanced CAS received a grant award worth $40,000 to provide enhancements to the existing Adult Day Services program. With the support from these funds, renovations included installing dementia-friendly flooring and choosing color schemes specific to the dementia population. Therapeutic supplies/equipment designed specifically for the hearing and visually impaired and intellectually disabled consumers were purchased. New equipment purchased includes lift chairs, bath lift, Plasma TV, Wii Gaming System, digital piano, exercise equipment, and therapeutic and horticulture supplies. A celebration was held in the newly remodeled and enhanced Adult Day Services Program with an Open House on July 15, 2010. Anyone who has not yet visited Eldercare is encouraged to stop in for a visit. Eldercare is CAS’ Adult Day Services Program located on Morris Street in Waynesburg. It is the only state licensed adult day program in Greene County which offers a variety of activities provided within a protective nonresidential setting. Eldercare provides community based services to improve the quality of life to older adults, 60 or older or with functional impairment, and to provide respite for caregivers. Staff include: Karen Hoy, Site Supervisor/LPN, and Vicki Funk, Activities Coordinator. A Registered Nurse Consultant also visits the facility on a regular basis. Hours of operation are 8:00 AM-5:30 PM, M-F. Consumers are provided a light snack in the morning and afternoon, as well as a congregate meal from the central kitchen for lunch. Transportation can be provided through the Greene County Transportation Program. Eldercare is a provider of services for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging (AAA) through AAA’s Options and PDA-Waiver programs. Eldercare is also an approved provider for Consolidated Waiver. Families that do not qualify for any of these programs have the opportunity to private pay. For consumers who have a long term care portion in their insurance, insurance companies can be billed. Families can visit the facility any time, and can schedule a FREE day for their loved one to attend. Caregivers receive respite while their loved one is provided nutritional meals, activities geared towards their specifically designed care plan, socialization and exercise (mental stimulation & physical). Medications are monitored and personal care can be provided. |
