Cornerstone Care is a non-profit network of predominantly rural community health centers and practices serving communities throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Our mission is to improve the health of our patients and all the residents of the communities we serve. We reach out to low income, uninsured, other under-served populations including individuals with disabilities in recognition of the barriers to accessing health, dental and mental care that many of our neighbors face. We continually strive to mobilize resources in response to unmet community needs. This principal is the basis of our growth. Our primary strategy is to provide a comprehensive range of services including health education / outreach, social services, counseling and a variety of specialists as well as preventative and primary health care spanning medical, dental, and mental health to the entire community. We do not turn anyone away for the lack of ability to pay. A volunteer board of directors, a majority of which are patients, governs Cornerstone Care. Cornerstone Care began 36 years ago in the Greene County community of Greensboro when a group of local citizens organized to address local health needs. Today we provide a full-range of primary and preventative health care at nine locations including Community Health Centers in Greensboro, Rogersville, Mount Morris and Burgettstown; a Dental & Counseling Center in Waynesburg; Pediatric Associates of Washington, Central Greene Pediatrics in Waynesburg, a Student Health Center at Waynesburg University, a Medical & Dental Center in Uniontown; and a mobile medical and dental unit. Cornerstone Care has engaged a unique partnership with the Monongalia General Hospital of Morgantown, West Virginia, and the Mountain State Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution to create The Teaching Health Center, a Family Medicine Residency Program. The Teaching Health Center provides community-based setting for the post medical school training that family practitioners need for board certification.
